In Orissa the Nagara or Indo-Aryan style of temple architecture found it full expression. Those who are historically inclined for them temples are abound in Orissa. Bhubaneswar, the capital is famous as 'City of Temples'. Then 'Sun Temple' i.e. the 'Black Pagoda' which is ffashioned like a Rath or the wheeled chariot of Sun God driven by horses.

Besides this 'The Lingaraj Temple', 'The Rajarani Temple', 'The Mukteswar Temple' convey the beadwork beauty. But the jewel of them all is the 'Jaganath Temple' of Puri, which is the holy abode of Lord Jagannath. Temples spread along the length & breadth of the state.

It is also famous for various rock caves & ancient apartment residence for 'Jain' & 'Budhist' monks Udayagir, Khandagiri, Lalitgiri at Bhubaneswar etc. The rocks were neatly carved with impressive sculptural decorations.
