ODISSI DANCE: Since time immemorial dance has been considered as ritual which Devadasi performed in front of Lord Jagannath, the temple deity of Puri. Now Oddisi dance is famous world over because of it artistic expression and unique style. It is a "sculpturesque" style of dance with a harmony of line and movement, all its own. CHHAU DANCE: variety of dance is prevalent in the princely states of Mayurbhanja, Nilagiri and Sareikala (now in Bihar). This dance is performed exclusively by men. It is evidently a war dance. The steps and movements, the attack and defence, the performers, each holding a sword and shield, dividing themselves into two parties, the drums and their mode of play, the huge kettle drum known as 'Dhumusa' a must in the orchestra, its reverberating powerful beats energizing the dancers, all signify that Chhau dance is unmistakably originated from marital practices.

SAMBALPURI DANCE: It is another form of group dance started in Sambalpur but is now renouned world over. The dance is performed by girls and all are supposed to dance in co-ordination with one another wearing similar type of sarees. It is an unique dance among tribals performed around in a festive mood.
